Rabies Vaccination

On the 7th of February, in Chhomus Kaek and Koh Krobey pagoda, we, Liger Leadership Academy students and ARC (Animal Rescue Cambodia) hosted a free rabies vaccination event for the villagers pets that live close to these two pagodas. We were setting up the tables and the supplies for the event to get ready for the event that start at 8am and end at 12pm in Chhompus Kaek pagoday, and in the afternoon from 1pm until 5pm in Koh Krobey pagoda. We also divided into teams that are advertising about the free rabies vaccines for the villagers and give the rabies vaccination to the pets in the pagoda. I was in the advertising team and it was really fun and I had a lot of experiences from it. I recorded my voice to the microphone and play it as we traveled through the villages, and what it says was “Hurry up!! Everyone!! It is not too late take your pets to get a free Rabies Vaccination at the pagoda around this time”. We got a lot of attention from the people in the village and we were happy because we saw a lot of the villagers were bringing their pets to get a free rabies vaccination.

Football ASE

Almost every week we were having football competition with other teams. Mostly the coach made list of 18 students including me. As you know I like football by a lot. 90% of the time that my name on the starting line-up. It is easy for me to get into the starting line-up because I am the only student that play left-wing. This year we have a bad season because we played 4 matches so it looks like this, LDLW and we don’t know which team that we are going to play with next.

As football is my passion and one of my future goals is to be a football player I also lead an after school activities(ASE) with the junior students. It seemed most of them are interesting in this activity but only small amount of students that join this activity, but now I saw a lot of progress in this ASE. They are started to enjoy football more and more. And thank you Theara, my team mate, for helping me.

Down below is my training video that I edited last month!!

Khmer Rouge Exploration

Hello!! And welcome to the Khmer Rouge exploration and we are studying about the year 1975 to 1979. Khmer Rouge took control of Phnom Penh in 17, April 1975. Most of the population in the city are evacuated to different places around the countryside. There were about 3 million Cambodians were killed.

One of the best moment that I like the most in this exploration is went on a trip to Annlong Veng, we went to many different places there and learned a lot of things. My highlight is went to War Museum in Siem Reap it was my second time there and was a huge experience.

There was one river in the Amazon Forest named by a person that lived near there. The river was called Semsy Choa. Many sharks lived in that river. There was one cluster of spiders that liked to go there and swim around the river. In the river there were many living creatures, including whales, crocodiles, turtles and more. The head of the cluster was named Chong Vey. He was really rude to the other spiders in the cluster. One spider family that was in the cluster was really polite to the head of the cluster. The father was named Kok and the mother was named Chab Dak. Dak and Kok gave birth to one baby named Pullieas. Pullieas liked to swim more than anyone else in the cluster. All of the sharks in the river liked to play with the spiders that came to swim. One day the cluster came to swim for a while and Pullieas swam away from the other spiders. He met one baby shark named Srey Chlam. Both spider and shark liked to play with each other so much even though no one swam with them, but they came to the river and swam with each other. Twenty years later, they both wanted a mate. Pullieas told Srey Chlam that he wanted to have a baby. Srey Chlam said, “we can’t, but if you really want to have a baby you have to spend your life to have a baby.” After they talked for a while, they both decided that they wanted to have a baby for their next generation. The next night with a full moon, they both made a baby. To give birth to the baby, Srey Chlam had to eat Pullieas, her husband. Before she ate her husband, she had some words to say to her husband: “thanks so much. We both had a great time with each other,” she said with tears coming out. “Before I die, I want to say to my baby that I really love your mom. Take care of your mom,” said Pullieas. “ After he said his last words, she put her husband on her nose and threw him up. Then opened her mouth wide and fell into her mouth. She ate her husband with tears in her eyes. Five days later, she gave birth to a baby named Pulam. Pulam liked to eat foxes and wolves, also whales. Everyday Pulam came out of the river and hunted the land animals. Pulam hunted the foxes by climbing on the trees and jumping on the back of the fox. When he turned 10, he was old enough to fight with the whales. Every morning he went to eat the whales and he lived a really happy life with his mom. But when Pulam was born, Srey Chlam did not tell Pulam about his father. Pulam asked his mom, “Mom, where has my dad been since I was born until now? I have never seen his face! Where has he beh9en?” Srey Chlam told him the story and the tears came out: “your dad already died,” said Srey Chlam. “What? My dad already died? Why?” “He told me that he wanted to have a baby, but we couldn’t. If we want to have a baby he had to give his life. So I ate him to get you here.” “I am the worst son ever,” said Pulam. No you are not,” said Srey Chlam, “because your dad was a spider and I am a shark. How could we reproduce? Your dad was so, so small; that’s why I ate him. It is okay son, you will find a better life.”

Crime In Cambodia

Crime in Cambodia
My second explorations of this year is Crime in Cambodia(CIC). In CIC we have seven members in the class include one facilitator. CIC isn’t learning about the crimes but we were learning about laws. Our main topic is about illegal fishing. We went to kep province for learning about fishing laws also the illegal fishing. In cambodia it have a lot of illegal fisherman include Cambodian fisherman and Vietnamese fisherman. There are many illegal fishing boats go out at night to catch the fish. We met one organization call Marine Conservation Cambodia(MCC) that are trying to protect the marine lives. One main issue that MCC trying protect from is the trawling boats. When the fisherman do the trawling for fish they also kill the other marine lives such as coral reefs and other sea creatures. Our goal are to make website and making a really nice documentary. Our audience is Liger students and facilitators.
