My Motivational Speech

I defined poem as a piece of writing to express our feeling, to educate, to encourage, and to influence people in a way that it could change their life. Poems can be written in many different styles and structures, poems don’t have to be rhyme, it doesn’t have to be illiterate, it doesn’t have to have a personification, it all about the creativeness of the poets. In my 11 AM, English Literacy class, I wrote a poem about people who are about to give up, I write my poem to persuade, encourage, and to influence them to give up on their dream in the middle of the way. I am saying my poem is not like a regular poem it is more like a motivational speech, where every word from each stanza touches readers’ heart in a very unique way, my poem was influenced by some sport motivational videos from youtube. During the time that we presented our poem to the class, students were required to read their poem to the classroom, but for me, I used motivational music to add extra power and meanings to my poem while reading it to the class. Below is my poem called “Don’t Stop”,

Playing against Kampong Speu Provincial Team.
Maya, #9, tackling the ball.

Don’t Stop!

You cry because you fail

You cry because there are competitions

You cry because you can’t go forward

You cry because you ain’t tough enough to fight with the problems

Don’t be upset with these situations

Look back at your failures and take the action

Don’t keep dreaming, start doing it

Challenge yourself to see your toughness

Most people don’t work on their dream, why?

Fear! The fear of failure “what if things don’t work out”?

Fear! The fear of success “what is happening you can’t handle it”?

Fear! The fear of beliefs “You gonna fail, You don’t want to do it”

Don’t listen to other people!

Don’t spend your time with other people!

Stop wasting your time with other people!

Stop involving them into your life! If you want to live your dream!

Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough!

When you fail it is your darkest moment and you have to focus to see the light!

When you become a right person you begin to have a certain uniques

Start to defines your value

Your life is a page, don’t let it become a chapter.

Don’t let one mistake create a book.

Take one minute to think

Take one minute to code your body

Take one minute to program your  mind

The one minute that never comes back

The one minute that might change your life forever if you use it accurately

Have a mindset that you are always a successful person

You were born to success.

Success is your name

Make it in the hall of fame

I dare you to take a little pain

I dare you to take suffer

I dare you not to go home

I dare you to stay right here dealing with the problems

Some people love to rest more than success

Rest is just for people who are broke

You don’t rest, You work all the time

When you want to succeed as bad as you wanna breath

Then you will be successful!

Don’t Stop!
Never give up!

Coming of age narrative

Every Second Counts

“Every second counts.” Every child dreams to be successful in the future. Success, success, who doesn’t want success in their life? Work hard, determined, optimise, and focusing are characteristics that brings success into people’s life. Some people dream are success, and some are not. Mistakes are going to attend in everywhere. Don’t let those mistakes make one’s forsake their goal.

I have had a tougher life than anyone else. I do not remember my father, and he went away, nor never come back to see his son. My parents had divorced when I was two year-old. The third person makes my parents got divorced, and I have bad relationship with my parents instantaneously. My mother was in Phnom Penh, and my grandmother always went outside to work for others. Only me and my brother stayed home. Every day I taught my brother how to be a good kid. My grandmother always borrowed the food ingredients, other stuff to use for daily life, and loans the money from others just only for her grandsons.

When I was young I had an ability to learn. Since I understood that my family struggled, I tried harder and harder to study. When I was in grade one, I have only a book with a plastic bag as my backpack and got no school uniform. When I curious with some words I don’t even know if I should ask my teacher or wait until the school day end, and come back home to ask my grandmother. Unfortunately some words she doesn’t know either. I cried, I cried because I didn’t know, I cried because I didn’t understand, and I cried because I was determined student that shouldn’t forsake on things easily. I read all the time, I read when I saw letters, I read when I saw posters, and I read when I saw commercials. My life was hard, but I have a high self-esteem, and I never forget my identity.

Since then, I find myself loving school. A lot of the villagers approached me, and appreciated me. I tried very hard to learn; every second counted for me. I’ve got a lot of encouragement gifts from my teachers and the school director. I love playing football since I was 8 year-old. I joined the PKU U12 in 2012, and I won many titles with the team. I really like football because football is a popular sport in my town and everyone plays it. I spend some of my time helping my grandmother to harvest the rice for daily life profit. I helped her to do agriculture for her rice owner.

My life are messed with those kind of words (bullying) we stay strong, and we work together very well. My parents had to live far away from us. I only stayed with my grandmother. I was a bad kid, and lived in a bad environment. I used to smoke  cigarettes and drank wine. I’m sure that these are not a good thing for kids to do because it is bad for our identity. I had a lot of conflicts with my brother also, once I went up on the stairs, and then he closed the door, and hit me directly reverse back to the ground, and I broke my left arm. As a poor family, at the we were famished. We just ate things randomly without knowing the effect of the foods. Once I was eating a watermelon, and I was poisoned by the watermelon. I almost died at that time, but luckily I was saved by my neighbors.  I tried hard and I went to school every day to do extra studies.

Life was challenging me when I was young; however, I fight through it day by day.

Once I hear the news about Liger was recruiting students to learn in Phnom Penh, I decided to tell my grandmother and do the test with my others classmates. I did the test twice  until I can come to Liger. Once I passed the test; I went home quickly like a gust of wind and told my grandmother that I passed the test. I was asking her for a permission for me to study here in Liger, and she said Yes fast like a lightning strike. I felt so lucky to receive this opportunity at Liger.

My life has not been easy, and I had to struggle every day; however, all the moments of determination and patience paid off, because now I am at Liger and know that I will be a success.

I changed my mindset by a lot. Grow older makes me feel different than before and it’s changed my brain. I could do things legitimately. Coming to Liger is really important to me because I need to change my country, and my family. I changed my identity, but it is a bad characteristics, when I came to Liger, and most importantly I like the study program here. We got sports, ASEs, and many other things.

In Literacy class we also have the book to read to improve our reading skill. First I need to read the book and understand about the book also find out the says and mean of my book which means is the words that I don’t know how to say or I don’t know what it means so I should write it in the computer and find out what the words means. After that I will read the book with the teacher and the other students that read the same book as me.

Creative writing

There was one river in the Amazon Forest named by a person that lived near there. The river was called Semsy Choa. Many sharks lived in that river. There was one cluster of spiders that liked to go there and swim around the river. In the river there were many living creatures, including whales, crocodiles, turtles and more. The head of the cluster was named Chong Vey. He was really rude to the other spiders in the cluster. One spider family that was in the cluster was really polite to the head of the cluster. The father was named Kok and the mother was named Chab Dak. Dak and Kok gave birth to one baby named Pullieas. Pullieas liked to swim more than anyone else in the cluster. All of the sharks in the river liked to play with the spiders that came to swim. One day the cluster came to swim for a while and Pullieas swam away from the other spiders. He met one baby shark named Srey Chlam. Both spider and shark liked to play with each other so much even though no one swam with them, but they came to the river and swam with each other. Twenty years later, they both wanted a mate. Pullieas told Srey Chlam that he wanted to have a baby. Srey Chlam said, “we can’t, but if you really want to have a baby you have to spend your life to have a baby.” After they talked for a while, they both decided that they wanted to have a baby for their next generation. The next night with a full moon, they both made a baby. To give birth to the baby, Srey Chlam had to eat Pullieas, her husband. Before she ate her husband, she had some words to say to her husband: “thanks so much. We both had a great time with each other,” she said with tears coming out. “Before I die, I want to say to my baby that I really love your mom. Take care of your mom,” said Pullieas. “ After he said his last words, she put her husband on her nose and threw him up. Then opened her mouth wide and fell into her mouth. She ate her husband with tears in her eyes. Five days later, she gave birth to a baby named Pulam. Pulam liked to eat foxes and wolves, also whales. Everyday Pulam came out of the river and hunted the land animals. Pulam hunted the foxes by climbing on the trees and jumping on the back of the fox. When he turned 10, he was old enough to fight with the whales. Every morning he went to eat the whales and he lived a really happy life with his mom. But when Pulam was born, Srey Chlam did not tell Pulam about his father. Pulam asked his mom, “Mom, where has my dad been since I was born until now? I have never seen his face! Where has he beh9en?” Srey Chlam told him the story and the tears came out: “your dad already died,” said Srey Chlam. “What? My dad already died? Why?” “He told me that he wanted to have a baby, but we couldn’t. If we want to have a baby he had to give his life. So I ate him to get you here.” “I am the worst son ever,” said Pulam. No you are not,” said Srey Chlam, “because your dad was a spider and I am a shark. How could we reproduce? Your dad was so, so small; that’s why I ate him. It is okay son, you will find a better life.”

Comprehension check

aodkvWhen we read the book we always want to under stand about that book. To do Liger students needed to do comprehension. A comprehension check is some thing that make you under more about the book instead of reading the book. In comprehension check it have some questions to ask the reader. We do the comprehension by the chapters when we finished chapter of that book is we go to the next level.
